WWE recently brought back Zelina Vega to Friday Night SmackDown after she was originally released from the company back in 2020.
Vega was released following the creation of an OnlyFans account and a very public outcry for the unionization of professional wrestlers, specifically those who work under the WWE banner.
According to a recent report from PWInsider, WWE actually apologized to Vega when she was released last year and the door was open for a return when and if she wanted to.
“We are told that even after Zelina Vega was released, there were segments of the company who felt she should have been retained and not released,” Mike Johnson of PWInsider wrote.
“We are told those segments of the company pushed for conversations between the two sides to continue. They eventually did and we are told that after a long period of back and forth conversations, WWE execs apologized to Vega and made her an offer to return” Johnson added.
“Eventually, she decided to go through that open door and signed back with the company”

It’s unclear if Zelina Vega’s husband Aleister Black will also be re-joining the company, with rumors circulating that he will be re-joining the NXT brand on a reduced contract.
Zelina Vega was added to the Money In The Bank ladder match on her first night back in the company, although she would lose in her first match against Liv Morgan in quick fashion.
Zelina Vega joins Carmella, Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in the ladder match that will be taking place on PPV in a couple of weeks.
