WWE Superstar Becky Lynch made a shock reappearance at the WWE SummerSlam 2021 PPV event this past Sunday.

‘The Man’ made her return to the company after her maternity leave, which lasted from WWE Money In The Bank 2020 up until the weekend.

In addition to Becky Lynch returning, she also shocked the WWE fanbase by challenging SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and defeating her in 26 seconds to become the new champion.

The response to this creative decision from fans was that of anger, with many comparing the situation to that of Kofi Kingston losing the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in a similar fashion.

Becky Lynch Turning Heel

According to a new report from F4Wonline.com, this was designed to be the start of a heel turn for Becky Lynch on the SmackDown brand.

There’s currently no word on when Lynch vs Belair will be taking place in a rematch for the title, but there’s a good chance it will be at the Extreme Rules PPV event in September.

Apparently, the decision to turn Lynch heel was actually requested by ‘The Man’ herself. Dave Meltzer recently confirmed this on Wrestling Observer Radio, noting that it was an intriguing decision for one of the only babyface characters in WWE to make the shift.

It has not been confirmed when the decision was made to turn Lynch heel, or whether WWE truly plans to run with the concept over the next couple of months. Becky apparently wants to help elevate Bianca Belair, thus why she asked to change her character’s leaning.
