Adam Cole: Update on ‘make or break’ WWE meeting with Vince McMahon

Last updated

WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole was recently brought into the spotlight as it was reported that his WWE contract had lapsed.

WrestlingINC revealed that Cole had signed an extension with the company, keeping him with them until just after WWE SummerSlam 2021.

In an update to the story, Adam Cole reportedly met personally with Vince McMahon on Friday at SmackDown to talk through the contract situation and what can be done going forward with the talented former NXT Champion.

According to a new report from Dave Meltzer, WWE writers have been told to write main roster storylines for the former leader of the Undisputed Era.

Since debuting in 2017 for WWE, Adam Cole has been part of the NXT roster, only making a couple of sporadic appearances on RAW, SmackDown and the Survivor Series PPV.

Adam Cole leaving WWE?

WWE are apparently ‘desperate’ to keep hold of Cole; it isn’t a case of him being a major star on the main roster, it’s more that AEW and their fanbase would see Cole as a megastar should he make the jump to All Elite.

There’s a lot to consider for Cole as his contract comes up again, and AEW has a lot going for it when it comes to bringing over a star the caliber of Adam Cole.

Cole’s former stablemates in Bullet Club in The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes are at AEW, and Cole’s wife Dr Britt Baker is also the AEW Women’s Champion.

It remains to be seen what WWE will do with Adam Cole, although it is likely that the company will offer him a good deal to stay with the company, specifically as Vince McMahon wanted to meet with him personally.
