Adam Cole: WWE Executives ‘frustrated’ over contract situation

Last updated

WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole is reportedly close to being a free agent very soon. According to a recent report from WrestlingINC, the former NXT Champion originally was out of contract after NXT Great American Bash.

WrestlingINC confirmed that Adam Cole has signed on for a further month with the company beyond the WWE SummerSlam 2021 PPV event.

PWInsider have now independently confirmed the story, saying that “Cole’s current deal with WWE is set to expire this summer.”

The site also confirmed that the realization of Cole’s contract coming up was a shock to many WWE executives, as the belief was that Adam Cole was ‘locked in’ until January 2022.

Multiple sources within WWE have confirmed the story, and they admit being frustrated that it has been the main public.

With Cole now seemingly on his way out, barring any sort of updated offer from WWE, many are wondering if the former leader of Undisputed Era will now make his way over to AEW.

It’s worth noting that Cole’s partner Dr Britt Baker D.M.D, is the AEW Women’s Champion, so there’s already a tailor-made reason for the former NXT Champion to make the jump to All Elite.

Cole reportedly also made sure that his short month with the company included the stipulation that he does not have to adhere to a 90-day non-compete clause, feasibly meaning he can go ANYWHERE after WWE SummerSlam 2021.
