The original Backlash plans for Bad Bunny have been revealed.

WWE surprised everyone when they announced a Street Fight between the music star and Damian Priest for the upcoming PLE. The show will be taking place from  San Juan, Puerto Rico so Bunny was always expected to be featured at the event.

Based on the storyline developments however, fans expected to see him in a tag team match with Rey Mysterio. The announcement of a singles match came out of nowhere.

Original plans for Bad Bunny

Fightful Select recently provided an update on the change of plans. They confirmed that the initial plan was for Bunny to team up with Rey Mysterio at the show:

“Bad Bunny was set to return and work towards a tag match with Rey Mysterio, taking on the Judgment Day duo of Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio. Things were moving that directions and plans were headed that way, but the match was changed to a singles match.”

WWE had even worked out the ending of this bout. According to the site, the Puerto Rican singer was supposed to win the match for his team after pinning Dominik Mysterio:

“Fightful has learned that the original plans would have seen Bad Bunny pinning Dominik Mysterio in Puerto Rico, and leaving the fans happy. However, Dominik and Rey Mysterio were pulled from the match, and both Bad Bunny and WWE were said to have felt comfortable with Bunny’s ability to have a good singles match instead.”
