Former WWE Champion Big E lost his title this past weekend at the WWE Day 1 event after being pinned by Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar was added to the match at the last minute after Roman Reigns was officially ruled out of the Universal Championship match due to contracting COVID-19.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, there has been a negative reaction backstage to how the New Day member’s title run went.
Fightful reported: “When we asked backstage about reactions to the move, most felt that Big E wasn’t booked consistently throughout his title reign and that multiple people involved with his ongoing storyline would go ‘above and beyond’ to make sense of things on screen to the best of their ability.”
It remains to be seen if Big E will be getting a rematch against Brock Lesnar for the title in the near future, potentially at the Royal Rumble PPV.
