It has been reported that WWE are focusing heavily on a return for Brock Lesnar. With SummerSlam reportedly being looked at as ‘this year’s WrestleMania,’ the company will be wanting the ‘Beast Incarnate’ on the show; at least this was the thought initially.
Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men podcast reported that WWE were looking at initial plans for Lesnar at SummerSlam. Although the talks had been happening since the show planning’s inception, it appears as though he isn’t in the running for the August show from Las Vegas.
Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley
Dave Meltzer reported on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast that the rumored Bobby Lashley vs Lesnar WWE Championship match is not currently being discussed. It had been rumored that the match was on the docket for the massive show later this year.
A potential bout between Lesnar and Lashley is still a possibility. With both men sporting MMA backgrounds it would be a good way to introduce some more mainstream appeal to a show that needs to be huge following the past year of Thunderdome shows.
