Hayes’ tag partner, manager, and confidant, Trick Williams, supported the champion’s statement. According to Williams, Hayes has indeed defeated more competitors than most realize. Hayes’ record in the ring speaks for itself, and his determination and skill make him a formidable opponent’‹.

Most recently, Hayes defended his NXT Championship against Baron Corbin in the “NXT Gold Rush” special. He has held the championship since April, when he bested Bron Breakker, thus ending Breakker’s nearly yearlong reign. This victory further solidified Hayes’ position as a prominent figure in NXT’‹.

Despite his impressive performance and victories over numerous Money in the Bank participants, Hayes has not yet been called up to WWE’s main roster.
