WWE NXT Superstar Carmelo Hayes appeared to draw a big rating on this week’s episode of the show against JD McDonagh.

The show opened with Hayes and Trick Williams in the ring before McDonagh interrupted and demanded a match with the former North American Champion.

Hayes vs JD was then made official for later in the night, and the match would start in the fourth quarter.

As confirmed by WrestleNomics, the match that took place through the fourth quarter into the fifth seemed to gain six per cent quarter to quarter.

The whole of the fourth quarter drew an overall rating of 562,000 viewers, and the fifth quarter, which began at 8:45 PM EST, overall drew 597,000 viewers.

The start of the show only drew a viewership of 596,000, so the announcement of the match between Hayes and McDonagh clearly drew interest via social media and word of mouth amongst fans.

It’s also worth noting that the quarter also featured a Tiffany Stratton, Thea Hail backstage angle, Briggs, Jensen, Henley, and James backstage angle and the start of Lyra Valkyria vs Valentina Feroz.

Although you can never be 100% on what drew the number, it’s looking extremely likely that it was the Hayes match.

WrestleNomics offer a ton of ratings and viewership information across WWE, NXT, AEW, IMPACT, MLW and more for only £5 per month, so it is absolutely worth looking at their Patreon subscription service!
