The WWE Cruiserweight Classic Journey

In 2016, Cedric Alexander made his WWE debut as a participant in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. This tournament showcased a plethora of cruiserweight stars, and Alexander was among the notable names.

He began his journey with a victory over Sean Maluta in the first round. However, his subsequent bout with Kota Ibushi was a memorable one, even though he didn’t emerge victorious.

This match aired on August 10th, 2016, and recently, celebrating its seven-year anniversary, Alexander shared a link to the match on Twitter, hinting at a different era in his career.

The Crowd’s Plea and Triple H’s Gesture

Post the match with Ibushi, the audience was so impressed with Alexander’s performance that they chanted, urging WWE to sign him.

Responding to this overwhelming support, Triple H, the Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development for WWE, met Cedric Alexander on the ramp.

He acknowledged the crowd’s plea with a thumbs-up gesture. Recollecting this pivotal moment, Alexander tweeted, “I started out a HHH guy 🤷🏿‍♂️.”

Although it’s not 100% clear, it appears as though Cedric is airing a bit of frustration here.

Recent Developments in Alexander’s WWE Career

It’s worth noting that Cedric Alexander hasn’t been prominently featured on the WWE main roster lately. His last appearance was alongside Shelton Benjamin, where they faced Sanga and Veer on the June 19th edition of Raw.

Following the 2023 WWE Draft, both Alexander and Benjamin remained undrafted. This has led to a growing demand among fans to see the reformation of the Hurt Business.

Meanwhile, Bobby Lashley, a former member of the Hurt Business, has formed a new alliance with the Street Profits.
