The wrestling world is abuzz with the recent news of CM Punk and his firing from AEW. While many fans are speculating about his next move, it seems that not everyone in the WWE locker room is keen on the idea of him returning.

The news of CM Punk’s departure from AEW has inevitably led to discussions about a potential move to WWE.

However, it’s not just the fans who are talking. The topic was a hot subject backstage at WWE Payback. But, not everyone seems to be on board with the idea.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, while there’s always a possibility of Punk’s return, several top WWE superstars are not in favour of it. Furthermore, a report from Fightful Select mentioned that Punk “still has major heat with numerous top names in WWE”.

CM Punk: Controversial Past with WWE

A few months ago, Punk made an appearance backstage at an episode of Raw in Chicago. During this visit, he had interactions with several individuals, including Paul Levesque, commonly known as Triple H.

However, Vince McMahon, who was working remotely at the time, made the decision that Punk should leave the premises.

The AEW Incident that Led to Punk’s Firing

AEW’s Tony Khan recently shed light on the incident that led to Punk’s firing. In a statement he delivered during AEW Collision, Khan expressed that he felt his “life was in danger” due to a backstage incident involving Punk at AEW All In.

This incident, described as regrettable, posed a threat to many backstage, including the production staff and other innocent individuals.

Khan emphasised that no one should feel threatened at their workplace, leading to the difficult decision of terminating Punk’s contract.

This decision came after recommendations from both AEW’s Discipline Committee and external legal counsel.

The Future for CM Punk

With such a tumultuous exit from AEW and mixed feelings within WWE, the future remains uncertain for CM Punk.
