A month following her ACL surgery, Dakota Kai, a popular figure in the wrestling world, shared some encouraging news about her health.

She announced on Twitter that she’s officially out of her straight-leg brace, free to move about comfortably once more, even donning her favoured sweatpants with holes in the knees’‹.

This update, accompanied by a video on her TikTok account, showed her without the brace, marking significant progress in her recovery journey’‹.

Though the exact timeline for Kai’s complete recovery is yet to be disclosed, Shayna Baszler, a fellow wrestler and friend, shared some promising news. According to Baszler, “[Dakota]’s leg is doing well. She’s way ahead of schedule,” This announcement was made during a live Twitch stream, which fans received with enthusiasm and relief’‹.

Dakota Kai: The Injury That Started It All

Kai has been away from the wrestling ring since she sustained a torn ACL on the May 12th edition of WWE SmackDown.

That night, Kai partnered with Bayley to challenge Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. The match, however, resulted in not just one, but two severe injuries.

Morgan suffered a shoulder injury midway through the match, and Kai, in a bid to protect her, ended up hurting herself. As Kai leapt off the top turnbuckle to counter Morgan with a powerful knee strike, she landed awkwardly, resulting in a noticeable outcry of pain. It was later revealed that Kai had injured her knee executing that move’‹.

The Aftermath: How the Wrestling World Reacts

While Kai remains on the sidelines, her Damage CTRL stablemates have shifted their focus to the forthcoming Money in the Bank event.

Bayley and IYO SKY have both qualified for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. However, Bayley’s spot in the event is now at stake after Shotzi issued a challenge to The Role Model.

Consequently, Bayley will now put her spot on the line against Shotzi on the upcoming SmackDown show later this week’‹.
