Drew McIntyre was reportedly banged up but insisted on working through WrestleMania 39.

The former WWE champion has been in the news recently due to reports about his WWE status. The Scottish Warrior’s current deal with the company expires at the end of the year and WWE has not re-signed him yet.

There have been conflicting reports about his future with the company. Some say that McIntyre is looking to leave the promotion while others believe that officials will convince him to sign a new deal.

Drew McIntyre and his frustrations

Fightful Select recently shed some light on the relationship between the two parties. They claimed that Drew McIntyre himself is not sure about his future, before noting that there have been creative frustrations on McIntyre’s side:

“There was said to have been frustration and several situations of not being on the same page with WWE. McIntyre, who is usually told about Draft plans ahead of time, was one of several left out of the loop until he was announced as a Raw talent on television.”

Though they also reported that Drew was banged up heading into the WrestleMania 39 triple-threat match with Sheamus and Gunther. Despite the injuries, he chose to work the show:

“McIntyre has been working banged up and injured and had a few injuries that needed taken care up, but we’re told he was adamant he wanted to get through WrestleMania to work with Sheamus and put over Gunther.”

Drew McIntyre has been off WWE programming since Mania due to his injuries. He was originally advertised for the Money in The Bank event in London later this year. The former champion however has been pulled from the show since then, indicating that even WWE is not sure about his future.
