WrestleMania 39 could end up being the last WrestleMania for Drew McIntyre in his current WWE run.
The former WWE champion returned to WWE in 2017. He has been presented as a main eventer since then. He returned in NXT, and the company put the NXT title on him during his return run.
He then picked up the most significant career victory after his main roster debut at WrestleMania 36, when he defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship. Unfortunately for McIntyre, the victory came during the pandemic era and he couldn’t share it with fans at the time.
WWE got another opportunity to recreate this moment in front of fans for Drew at the Clash At The Castle special last year. The officials, however, chose to continue Roman Reigns’ historic title run. Now it seems possible that the top brass may not get another such opportunity with the Scottish Warrior at all.
Is Drew McIntyre leaving WWE?
Per the latest update from PWInsider, Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is coming to an end, and the two sides haven’t been able to come to terms on a new deal yet.
While the former WWE champion’s deal is not up “imminently,” the fact the company hasn’t re-signed a top star like him already is a notable development.
McIntyre is currently scheduled to face GUNTHER and Sheamus in a triple-threat match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39.
If the company doesn’t manage to convenience Drew, this could end up being his last match at the Show of Shows.
