In a surprising turn of events, former Harlem and Syracuse footballer, Josh Black, has officially transitioned from the gridiron to the WWE wrestling ring.
The news broke after the recent WWE tryouts held in Detroit, Michigan during SummerSlam week.

From Football to WWE and Wrestling
Standing tall at 6’3” and weighing 290 pounds, 25-year-old Black is no stranger to the world of sports. After his college football journey, he tried his luck in the NFL, initially with the Chicago Bears and later with the New Orleans Saints.
However, before the 2022 season opener, the Saints made the tough decision to release him from their roster.

The WWE Tryout Experience
The WWE tryouts are known for their rigorous selection process. Athletes are usually informed almost immediately about their contract status.
So, when Black didn’t hear back for two weeks, he began to grow anxious. Reflecting on the experience in an interview with Rockford Register Star, he shared, “I was a little worried, sure, but I knew I had a good thing going. I knew I did well at that tryout.
“Now, I’ve got a contract coming in about a week, and then it’s off to Orlando (Florida) in the next two or three months for a new life.”

Embracing a New Persona
For his tryout, Black chose to don an “Egyptian God of War” outfit, hinting at the kind of character he envisions for his wrestling career.
Wrestling, which he has been a fan of since childhood, is not just a profession for him but a passion.
He expressed his excitement, saying, “I just hope it’s something that sticks for me. It’s so much fun. This is going to be my time to showcase who I am. I can’t wait to show the world who I am — and what I can do, baby.”
