Goldberg says he had made a deal with Vince McMahon for a retirement match that WWE didn’t deliver upon.
The former Universal Champion has been talking about a potential retirement match in recent times.
After his latest run with WWE, many believed it would be fitting for him to have his retirement in the promotion as well. Goldberg’s latest comments however, make it seem like the company is not very keen on the same.
Goldberg had a deal with Vince McMahon
The wrestling veteran opened up about his latest WWE run during an interview with Adam Carriker on 93.7 The Ticket (H/t Sportskeeda). He revealed that he had a handshake deal with Vince McMahon for a retirement match after his Elimination Chamber 2022 defeat to Roman Reigns:
‘Vince McMahon and I had a handshake understanding that, you know, after the Roman Reigns match I would have a proper retirement match. And, you know, that hasn’t come to fruition through them. So, therefore’¦ You know, nobody puts a stamp on my career. Nobody tells me when I’m done, period.”
Goldberg claimed that he likes to fight against it when somebody tries to tell him no. He also mentioned that he went against Reigns only three weeks after getting covid:
“When somebody tells me that, you know, I kinda like to fight against it. I like to do things my own way and I go out my own way. And I certainly don’t go out, you know, under Roman Reigns, you know, three weeks after I’ve had Covid and agreed to a match.’
Later in the interview, Goldberg revealed that he is planning his own retirement with a four city world tour.
