In a surprising revelation, former WWE superstars, The IInspiration (previously known as The IIconics), confirmed that they were indeed approached for a return at the 2022 Royal Rumble.

The news came to light during an episode of their podcast, ‘Off Her Chops’ on the Premier Streaming Network site.

The duo, consisting of Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee, disclosed that they were contacted less than a year after their release from WWE.

The WWE Royal Rumble Invitation

The 2022 women’s Royal Rumble was a spectacle that saw the return of numerous superstars. The event was particularly notable due to the numerous mass releases from the WWE roster in 2021.

Among those contacted for a return were the former Peyton Royce (Cassie Lee) and Billie Kay (Jessie McKay).

McKay shared, “We did get asked to do the Royal Rumble. It would be eight or nine months after our release.” However, the timing wasn’t right for the duo. Lee added, “It was a little bit too fresh, I think. We certainly weren’t ready to go back into that. It was too soon.”

The Emotional Aftermath of Release

The release from WWE was a significant blow to the duo, and the healing process took time. Lee expressed her apprehension about accepting the invitation, saying, “It was nice to be asked, but I also thought it wasn’t a guarantee. So I was like, ‘Eh, I’m not gonna be the chump who says yes,’ and they’ll be like, ‘Oh, we don’t need you anymore.'”

McKay agreed, adding, “Yeah, because the release, that took a while to kind of heal from that.” When asked if she felt healed now, McKay responded, “I do. It took a hot minute. I’d say it took a year.”
