John Cena last appeared for WWE at the WrestleMania 39 event against Austin Theory, but is he likely to be making another return soon?

FightFans has learned that the company are trying to make a play for the former WWE Champion to make a return as soon as the Night of Champions Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia.

“WWE originally wanted John Cena to appear at Night of Champions, previously dubbed King & Queen Of The Ring and they wanted Cena to wrestle a high profile match. As of late, I’m told no movement or agreement has been made and it’s considered unlikely to happen as it stands” is what was indicated to us.

We looked further into this, and quite unsurprisingly, we were told that “they always want him but have to work around his schedule.”

Considering that Cena had somewhat of a less than great performance at ‘Mania against Theory, it might well be some time until we see him back in a WWE ring.

As noted previously, the Saudi Arabia event that was scheduled for May 2023 was previously being promoted as King of The Ring, but this was changed to Night of Champions. The reasoning for this was reportedly to link into the fact that it is Roman Reigns’ 1000 days as Universal Champion.
