More NXT Superstars get main roster ‘audition’ at SmackDown

Last updated

As we reported last week, WWE NXT Superstars Karrion Kross and Bronson Reed were ‘brought up’ to WWE’s main roster shows for somewhat of an ‘audition’ ahead of the company wanting to shake the brands up.

The NXT Champion and North American Champion respectively also appeared on Main Event, with many fans confused as to why WWE opted to give Karrion Kross an intro without Scarlett or any of the usual pomp and circumstance.

In an update to WWE holding these main roster ‘auditions,’ both Shotzi Blackheart and Scarlett were backstage at SmackDown this week.

Scarlett and Shotzi Blackheart

According to Fightful Select, Shotzi and Scarlett were brought to the show to work a dark match off of television. It’s interesting that WWE opted to have Scarlett work a match, as she is usually portraying Karrion Kross’ manager on NXT programming.

WWE are looking to try and shake up the brands following the Thunderdome era when fans return. There is already a drive to bring back massive names such as Brock Lesnar, The Rock and John Cena, however utilizing some of the NXT talent on both RAW and SmackDown could also yield some great results.

With NXT no longer needing to compete with AEW on Wednesday nights, they can afford to offload some talent and continue to grow the up and coming Superstars on the brand.

It is not confirmed if WWE are planning to bring Shotzi or Scarlett to RAW or SmackDown any time in the near future, however the fact that both are already being looked at for these ‘auditions’ is extremely telling.
