For many fans, it’s still hard to believe that Vince McMahon will end up selling WWE. If the company CEO Nick Khan is to be believed, however, the sale might happen quicker than anyone can think.
The WWE executive appeared on CNBC live (H/t Fightful) recently to discuss the future of the promotion. When asked how fast he expects a deal for an ownership change to come together, Khan gave a surprising answer:
“Quick. I think it’s going to be a fast process. Maybe three months,”
Vince McMahon’s declaration
Another big question people have about the sale is the future of Vince McMahon. Nick Khan was asked if the boss is on board with the sale and if he will step aside if the new owners do not want him in the company. Khan claimed that McMahon has actually declared that he will accept the scenario:
“Vince has declared to the board, to me, and to other management that he is 100% open to a transaction where he is not included in the company moving forward. I really believe he’s looking for the best value for the shareholders. Keep in mind, he’s also a large shareholder. He’s 77 years old and I think he’s ready to take a look at the landscape.”
A three months timeline means that the company could be under new management before or just after WrestleMania 39.
