The world of professional wrestling is no stranger to controversies, and the recent release of a WWE superstar has once again stirred the pot.
Quincy Elliott, a former NXT talent, has been the talk of the town due to the issues he reportedly caused backstage. Quincy Elliott’s journey in WWE was nothing short of tumultuous. Just nine days after WWE’s merger with UFC/Endeavor to form TKO, several superstars found themselves without a contract. Among them was Elliott.
Sources close to the matter, including Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, have shed light on the reasons behind his release: “Quincy Elliott was trouble. Quincy Elliott caused all kinds of issues for the staff in WWE. It was somebody who was always going to be up next on the chopping block. No other way to put it, Quincy Elliott was gonna get cut” SRS claimed on a recent Fightful Select stream.
Elliott, it seems, was a consistent source of concern for the WWE staff. His behaviour and actions backstage made it almost inevitable that he would be released.

A Promising Start in WWE NXT That Fizzled Out
Elliott’s introduction to the NXT audience was met with considerable interest. His ‘Super Diva’ gimmick initially caught the attention of many.
However, despite the initial buzz, Elliott struggled to maintain momentum. His appearances on NXT TV became sporadic, with his last significant match being an NXT North American Title number one contender battle royal in March.
This was a stark contrast to his debut in September 2022. By August 19th, Elliott had his final match at an NXT house show in Tampa.

Elliott’s Response to His Release
Following the news of his release, Elliott took to social media to share his thoughts. On his Instagram story, he announced his departure from WWE and hinted at future plans.
“No Longer with WWE. Let the Celebration Begin,” he wrote, followed by, “I have a lot to say. And a whole lot more to accomplish. My creativity will not be denied. See you in 30 days.”
It’s worth noting that regular NXT contracts come with a 30-day non-compete clause, while main roster contracts extend to 90 days.
