Rey Mysterio is not done
Dave Meltzer provided an update on Rey’s career in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He confirmed that the former WWE champion is not retiring after the PPV:
“Regarding rumors that Rey Mysterio is retiring after Mania, they are untrue.”
Despite the long build, the match between Rey and Dominik is yet to be officially announced. Meltzer noted that WWE had discussed the idea of setting up the match on Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 itself, but those plans were not set in stone:
“The storyline indicates something will happen at the Hall of Fame, so it’s likely the most will be a last minute addition. We do know that it has been discussed the idea of shooting the angle for the match on night one and then having the match at night two. But they also could shoot the angle and make the match earlier, such as during the Hall of Fame ceremony.”
