Rick Boogs, whose real name is Eric Bugenhagen, began his journey with WWE in October 2017. Over the years, he showcased his talent in various matches, with his last appearance being in the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam on August 5th, 2023.

However, his association with WWE came to an unexpected halt when he was released on September 21st, 2023.

Addressing his fans and followers on his YouTube channel, Boogs delved into the specifics of his non-compete clause.

He mentioned that while many are curious about his departure from WWE, he is still technically bound by the contract for three months.

Marking a significant date, he stated, “My birthday is December 21st and as a birthday present, I’m free from my contract.” This means that until December 21, Boogs remains under the contractual obligations set by WWE.

The Standard WWE Non-Compete Duration

For those unfamiliar with the wrestling industry’s contractual norms, main roster talents typically have a 90-day non-compete clause when released.

On the other hand, NXT talents have a shorter duration of 30 days. However, it’s essential to note that these durations can vary.

Individual contracts might have exceptions based on the reasons for the release or specific terms negotiated.

Behind Boogs’ Release

Since his departure, Boogs has been vocal about the reasons he believes led to his release.
