When CM Punk made his AEW debut, he cut a fiery promo and declared that he is a pro wrestler. WWE EVP Road Dogg however, thinks that it’s the wrong label for the Straight Edge Star.
The Attitude Era star discussed Punk once again on the latest episode of his “Oh… You Didn’t Know?” podcast, (H/t WrestlingInc) He explained that while the former WWE champion is an incredible wrestler, he has always believed that CM Punk is more of a ‘sports entertainer.’:
“I think Punk’s a great example of a guy that if you just went with wrestler, wrestler, wrestler, wouldn’t have made it without the attitude, mic skills and I don’t want to say character because Punk was never really a character, he was just himself, but he’s good at it, he made people tune in and get behind it. I don’t have to like you, take you out for dinner [to work with you].”
Road Dogg on CM Punk
Road Dogg had recently discussed a potential WWE return for CM Punk as well. He had mentioned that WWE doesn’t mind giving second chances to people if it makes business sense. The WWE Senior Vice President of Live Events claimed that Punk could be brought back because he is a needle mover.
