An ECW-themed WWE event has been rumoured to be taking place at some point later this year, or potentially even beyond in NXT.
According to a new report/rumour from The Mole, WWE are looking at holding an NXT event in the Hammerstein Ballroom with an Extreme Championship Wrestling theme.
“NXT could be holding a Takeover style ECW themed PLE in the Hammerstein” the account claimed on Twitter this week.

ECW NXT Event Rumours
It’s worth noting that these rumours from The Mole are just that, rumours, as we are unable to verify whether or not the report is legitimate at this time.
Having an event at the Hammerstein would certainly make sense for NXT, but having an ECW-themed card would be difficult to pull off.
The modern version of NXT is probably about as far away as you could get from the original grimy aesthetic of Extreme Championship Wrestling, so it would at least be interesting to see how they would make it make sense in 2023.
