WWE ‘wanted to bring in’ NJPW talent according to rumour

WWE apparently wanted to bring in two NJPW talents before one of them made their way to All Elite Wrestling, according to a new rumour.

@BlackMaskofPW recently claimed on Twitter that the company wanted to bring in both Tama Tonga and Jay White, seemingly as part of a Bullet Club/The Club storyline.

“Some notes’¦’¦ #WWE wanted to bring in Tama Tonga with Jay White. There’s still interest in him but I don’t know when they will start bringing in talent from other promotions again. No one was told how the World Title for #RAW would be decided. We found out as you all did” the account claimed on Twitter.

It’s worth noting that this rumour from the Black Mask of Wrestling is just that, a rumor, as we are unable to verify whether or not the report is legitimate at this time.

As we now know, Jay White made his way to AEW, and Tama Tonga is reportedly now working in New Japan without a contract (first reported by Fightful).

There is still a soft hiring freeze in the company, and it appears as though White was one of the names that didn’t make it in because of said freeze.
