WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Huge rumour on lineage

Last updated

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be getting a new holder this weekend when AJ Styles takes on Seth Rollins, but what is the lineage of the belt?

According to a new report/rumour from Boozer Wrestling, the ‘new’ belt will have the same lineage as the title that was previously introduced in 2002.

“The new WHC will have its historical lineage of 2002 onwards. Saturday’s winner will be added to the title holders list” the account claimed on Twitter.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Lineage

It’s worth noting that these rumours from Boozer Wrestling are just that, rumours, as we are unable to verify whether or not the report is legitimate at this time.

Keeping the lineage of the previous WHC is a great way to instantly make this ‘new’ belt feel like something important, especially when certain talents who were synonymous with that belt (ie. Edge) are still on the roster.

We will probably see a hype package for Night of Champions showing off the impressive lineup of previous title holders…assuming that this rumour does in fact have credence.
