WWE personality Shane McMahon trended huge on social media after not appearing at WrestleMania 38 to face Seth Rollins.

Despite the fact that it was almost a given that Cody Rhodes would be appearing, there were fears that WWE might decide to put Shane McMahon in the spot against Seth Rollins.

The right move was made putting Rhodes in that position, as it was a fantastic moment and one that will live on in video packages for years to come.

Fans React to Shane McMahon and Cody Rhodes

Some fans have said that AEW should sign McMahon as “payback” for the situation; although mostly this was in a joking manner.

One fan tweeted: “Thank you WWE for doing the funniest possible thing by hiring Cody time for AEW to step up their game by doing the funniest possible thing by hiring Shane McMahon.”

Another fan posted a reply to Evil Uno, who himself tweeted about his former colleague making his re-debut for WWE. The fan tweeted: “Get Shane McMahon for [the] next AEW PPV as payback.”

It’s unlikely that we would see it happen, but it would be pretty funny if it did.
