The wrestling world was set ablaze when The Rock, one of the most iconic figures in WWE history, made a surprise return during the September 15th edition of SmackDown.

The sheer magnitude of his return was not just felt in the arena but also echoed loudly across various social media platforms.

On that fateful Friday, The Rock interrupted a confrontation between Pat McAfee and Austin Theory. Not one to shy away from physicality, the Hollywood superstar delivered a spinebuster to Theory, followed by his signature move, the People’s Elbow.

The Denver, Colorado crowd erupted in cheers, giving The Rock a reception that could only be described as monumental.

Social Media Eruption

The digital realm was no different. Videos related to The Rock’s return garnered millions of views, reflecting the global impact of his comeback.

According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful, the video showcasing The Rock’s return accumulated a staggering 100 million views across all WWE social media channels in a mere 24 hours.

To put this into perspective, as of September 17th, the 13-minute segment featuring The Rock’s return had been viewed over 3.4 million times on YouTube. Additionally, a backstage video featuring The Rock and another WWE legend, John Cena, clocked in at 1.5 million views. Even the video capturing just The Rock’s entrance amassed 803,000 views on the platform.

In comparison, the most-watched non-Rock video from that SmackDown episode highlighted Santos Escobar’s request for a US Title match, which secured 356,000 views. The disparity in numbers underscores the unparalleled appeal of The Rock.
