Triple H “refused” to make former WWE Superstar use a script

A former WWE NXT Superstar and current All Elite Wrestling roster member recently discussed working with Triple H in WWE.

Appearing on Talk Is Jericho, Swerve Strickland revealed that The Game did not want him following scripted promos on the developmental brand.

“We did Great American Bash and we [Strickland and Leon Ruff] had a blow-off match. That’s when Hit Row was introduced” Strickland began.

“I was cutting promos in the studio backstage and Triple H was like ’˜Nope ’“ take away the script. Don’t let him use the script anymore.’ So I was like ’˜cool’” Strickland added.

Triple H on Scripted Promos

WWE has been known to have a tight grip on promos over the past couple of years. There have been some who get more leeway such as Roman Reigns, but for the most part, Superstars are expected to stick to their scripted work.

It’s interesting that someone like Strickland was given more leniency, but that probably won’t be the case for many stars in the NXT 2.0 system.
