Triple H ‘considered’ dropping major WWE Championship

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H apparently considered dropping a major WWE Championship at some point.

One of our sources indicated to us that The Game is not a fan at all of the Universal Championship, and at one point, he was looking to drop it.

“HHH suggested retiring the [Universal] Championship at one time; he really doesn’t like the title” was the exact wording we received on Hunter’s thoughts.

Triple H wants to drop Universal Title?

We are unable to establish whether or not this means that the belt will be dropped at some point in the near future. Still, we know that Triple H wants to split the world titles following WrestleMania 39, with SummerSlam being the point by which he wants to have that situation shored up.

Looking further, we were able to establish that Hunter apparently wanted to drop the title when he first took over from Vince McMahon as the head of creative. However, he “recognised its importance for the dual champion role.”

We were also able to discover that the World Heavyweight Championship was being considered as a replacement, but this would not work as it is inconsistent with the rest of the World Titles that are currently on the main roster.

We’ll hopefully be able to get more on this story soon, as we’re expecting that the two belts that Roman Reigns holds will be split shortly after WrestleMania.

There is still a VERY good chance that HHH decides to lose the Universal Title after WrestleMania at some point, with the upcoming Draft looking like a possibility.
