WWE CEO Nick Khan continues to deny that Vince McMahon has any involvement with creative.
There has been uneasiness among talent ever since the WWE chairman returned to the company in January. Reports of an increase in script rewrites and change in previously set creative directions have only fuelled the rumours about the company hiding McMahon’s involvement with the storyline aspect of the promotion.
Vince McMahon has thoughts
Nick Khan was asked about this again during his appearance on CNBC’s Closing Bell Overtime (H/t Postwrestling). He claimed that Vince McMahon ‘certainly has thoughts’ but Triple H remains the head of creative:
“Vince has not interfered with creative. He certainly has thoughts, again, that we all try to tap in to pretty often but Triple H, real name, Paul Levesque, is our Head of Creative, he remains our Head of Creative and he’s done a phenomenal job along with our creative team.”
The WWE CEO also addressed the sudden departure of Stephanie McMahon from the company. He reminded people that Stephanie was already on a leave and it was Vince McMahon who brought her in when he retired from his post last year:
“It was Vince (McMahon) and I who called her together to ask her to come back from that leave of absence to fill in at the time as the Interim Chairperson. She then became the co-CEO as you just articulated and the Chairperson of the Board. She did phenomenal work across the board and when Vince came back, I think she went back to what she was thinking of doing on the leave of absence.”
