WWE Day 1 will be taking place on Saturday 1st January 2022 and it has now been confirmed that an Intercontinental Championship match will be part of the show.
Next week’s edition of SmackDown has already been taped, with Friday being Christmas Day. As part of that broadcast, there will be a 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet Match to determine the new #1 contender to WWE Intercontinental Championship.Â
Sami Zayn ends up winning the match, and he will be getting a match against Shinsuke Nakamura at the PPV event for the title.
Here is the current card as it stands for WWE Day 1:
- WWE Universal Championship Match – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
- WWE Championship Fatal 4 Way Match – Big E (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley
- Edge vs. The Miz
- WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match – The Usos vs. The New Day
- WWE Raw Women’s Championship Match – Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan
- Madcap Moss vs. Drew McIntyre
- WWE Intercontinental Championship Match – Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn
