WWE recently introduced a brand new World Heavyweight Championship on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, but whose idea was it to introduce a new belt?

According to a new report from Sports Illustrated, it was actually Triple H’s idea to introduce this brand new title to the company.

“It is somewhat of a surprise that the decision to split into two champions did not come from CEO Vince McMahon” the site noted.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

“Levesque oversees WWE’s creative, and he believes that Raw needs a world champion. It will be a shock if Reigns does not take the WWE undisputed universal championship with him to SmackDown, which then opens the playing field on Raw for a new champion” Justin Barrasso added in his article.

It remains to be seen where the new title will end up, with RAW being the most likely after the Championship match to determine the inaugural title holder at Night of Champions from Saudi Arabia.
