Former WWE Superstar Kalisto was released from the company last week. The former member of the Lucha House Party stable was removed from the roster along with the likes of Mickie James, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce and Samoa Joe.
We now have somewhat of an update regarding the release of Kalisto. The Luchador performer reportedly was not happy being part of the Lucha House Party team, and this contributed to his release.
Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Lince Dorado was the brains behind the group. Lucha House Party of course featured the aforementioned Kalisto, Dorado and Gran Metalik.
Dorado apparently pitched the idea to Vince McMahon as a way to be pushed on the show and gain revenue from merchandising. McMahon reportedly liked the idea and ran with it.
Reason Kalisto was ‘Cut’
Meltzer said that Kalisto had ‘cut his own throat’ months ago. “Over time Kalisto grew unhappy about being part of an act that was booked as prelim jokes” it stated in the Observer. “He even made a tweet about it. Kalisto kept asking out of the group and was continually told no.”
“But Dorado asked if he and Metalik could be the team since Kalisto wanted out anyway, so they shot the angle for the split” Meltzer reported.
It appears as though the Mexican star made his own destiny when he went against the grain on this one.
