Samoa Joe Has Been Released From His WWE Contract

Last updated

WWE has come to terms with the release of RAW commentator Samoa Joe.

It was announced this evening that the former 2x NXT Champion had been released from the company; it comes exactly a year after WWE released a number of talents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There were a number of talents released, but Samoa Joe was arguably the biggest name that was let go by the company. Joe has not appeared in the ring for WWE in quite some time, however he has been one of the shining spots of commentary on Monday Nights.

Samoa Joe Leaves WWE

Many fans have been left completely bemused and bewildered by the decision from WWE; some fans are already looking to AEW as a potential destination for Samoa Joe in the near future.

Although Joe has been out of the ring for an undisclosed medical reason, it was believed that he would be cleared imminently. Joe was recently taken off of the RAW commentary team, which lead many to believe that he was finally going to step back in a WWE.

Alas, this was not the case, and WWE have left go a slew of talents on the ‘anniversary’ of the COVID-19 releases in 2020.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, “John Laurinaitis has been making the calls to talent and citing budget cuts as the reason for the WWE releases.”
