AEW Tag Team Champions and former New Japan/Bullet Club stars The Young Bucks recently appeared on the Talk n’ Shop podcast. The duo discussed a number of topics on The Good Brothers’ podcast; including when they were offered a huge sum by WWE to come to the promotion.
‘I knew [Good Brothers] money” Matt Jackson began on the podcast. “Everyone else was getting [$150,000] to start. He’s already offering us $500,000 each guaranteed. I’m going, ’˜what!’ Right then, we knew our street value.”
“That was the first offer. Basically, he (Triple H) said, ’˜by the end of your trip, I would love an answer.’ The whole trip, I’m [stressed]. I kept dragging it out” The Young Buck continued.
The Young Bucks also discussed how Ring of Honor wanted them back around the same time. ‘They couldn’t afford it. We told them, ’˜we know we can make a million and that’s our goal, to make seven digits this year.’ They knew they couldn’t come close to that,’ Nick Jackson said.
The Young Bucks on WWE
This follows on from an interview with Chris Van Vliet back in 2019; where Matt Jackson said that The Young Bucks were extremely close to signing with WWE.
‘We talked to [WWE] endlessly” Jackson stated. “At one point, I remember me, Nick, and Kenny were in a room because all of our deals were up at the same time.”
“We got off the phone one day and we looked at each other, and we said, ’˜I think we’re all going to WWE.’ It was that close’ Jackson concluded.
