The Undertaker vs Goldberg match from Super ShowDown 2019 will forever go down in infamy. It wasn’t a great prospect to begin with, two ageing Superstars colliding at a lower level event, but with the concussion causing botch during the match? It was even worse than imagined.

Referee for the match Mike Chioda recently revealed that he almost had to call an audible and finish the match early; considering how bad both men appeared to be faring during the bout.

‘I almost had to call an audible during the Undertaker/Goldberg match at Saudi Arabia,’ recalled Chioda during an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk. ‘It went downhill after Goldberg got gashed open in the turnbuckle, got concussed.”

“He was badly concussed and he got through the match, but barely” Mike Chioda added. “That’s when I was kinda worried because I thought, ’˜oh my God!’’

‘After the suplex, they almost broke their necks” Chioda claimed. “’˜Oh my God, let’s get this done.’ I was waiting to hear back from somebody to say, ’˜should I call this match or not because he’s not doing good at all?’’

Chioda finished by saying that he would’ve called off the match if he was instructed to by The Undertaker. ‘Taker tells me something, I’m doing it,’ concluded Chioda. ‘I don’t care if the office in the back didn’t like it or not! Taker is one of the bosses, that’s for sure.’
