Former WWE Superstar Billie Kay being released from the company came as a shock to many. It’s now been reported that not only were fans taken aback by the news, but some talent backstage were not expecting her to be booted either.
Fightful Select reported that Billie Kay “was a surprise cut for many backstage.” The site mentioned that the talent they spoke to did not see Kay as being one of the names on the chopping block, citing the fact that she had been used on the WrestleMania card and WWE television in general.

It was also noted that Billie Kay is ‘loved’ in the WWE locker room, as is her former IIconics tag team partner Peyton Royce.
Fightful finished by also addressing Kevin Dunn and his role in Billie Kay’s firing. The longtime head of WWE’s production apparently didn’t ‘get’ Kay, “and had verbalized that he saw a ceiling for her in WWE.” The site did also note that they’re not sure if this actually contributed to the release of Kay.
