AEW Dynamite hit their highest viewing numbers (unopposed) of 2020 this past week. NXT’s viewership remained at their usual average, which is interesting considering WWE held the Takeover: WarGames event this past Sunday. The following information comes courtesy of ShowbuzzDaily.
- AEW Dynamite 995,000 Average viewership. 0.45 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Dynamite was also the second most watched program for the night in the key demographic and the MOST watched show on cable across men in the 18-49 group. Last week’s show hit 913,000, this was the ‘Winter Is Coming’ supershow. The main event of that show saw Kenny Omega win the AEW Championship. The Icon Sting also debuted last week and made his first comments on screen this week.
- NXT had 659,000 Average viewership. 0.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic, NXT was 37th on cable for the night. 658,000 was the number for last week’s show, so there was no post-War Games ‘bump’ for the ratings on the night. Karrion Kross made his return on this week’s show, attacking Damien Priest.
AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter to thank fans for contributing to the rating. “Thank you everyone who watched #AEWDynamite last night” Khan began. “It was our biggest audience of 2020 and one of the biggest numbers we’ve ever done since our debut! The balance of power in wrestling has shifted towards you great fans who have started a Revolution! See you Live on Wednesday!”
