Darby Allin denies that he was calling out CM Punk

AEW star Darby Allin appeared to be ‘calling out’ CM Punk during a recent promo on AEW Dynamite, hyping the upcoming episode of AEW Rampage on TNT, August 13th.

‘I’ll be in Chicago,’ Darby Allin said during the promo. ‘You know, I’ve been around a lot of men in this world that have laid claim to how they’re the greatest.”

“There is only one place to really prove that ’” right here, in AEW” Allin continued. “Even, if you think you are the best in the world.’

The Best In The World line had fans in the crowd chanting CM Punk, and AEW cameras cut to show the crowd in attendance at Dynamite chanting as such.

Allin did a virtual meet and greet with The Asylum Wrestling Store and revealed that the comments weren’t aimed at CM Punk, but Sammy Guevara.

‘No, that’s more Sammy Guevara [we were alluding to] because he calls himself the best ever,’ Allin revealed. ‘Yeah, well people read into it too much.”

“Sammy Guevara, [he] calls himself the best ever so’¦It’s cool, dude. It’s awesome that people actually care and wanna know what’s going on’ Allin concluded.
