Former Ring of Honor and NXT Champion Samoa Joe recently discussed AEW and their ‘Forbidden Door’ concept with other promotions in pro wrestling.
All Elite have of course been working alongside a number of promotions over the past year, with the pandemic meaning that companies had to look for different ways to create a buzz.
Although the gimmick appears to have ended, Tony Khan has said the door is still open for talents to move back and forth going forward.
Despite AEW working with New Japan, IMPACT, NWA and more, Samoa Joe is not a fan of the concept. ‘I work for a company,’ Joe began on So Catch by Hal 2.
‘If I played for a major football club, you wouldn’t lend me out on the weekend to go play for the rival team.

“Messi’s ain’t doing day shifts over at Manchester United” Joe continued. “I understand some fans want for that and they want to see that, but at the same time, just with the whole politics of that type of situation, it wouldn’t be a good outcome anyways.
Samoa Joe was brought back to the NXT brand after he was released from his WWE main roster contract earlier this year. Triple H reportedly reached out to Joe the moment he found out about the release and wanted to bring him back straight away.
It has not been confirmed if Joe will be staying with the brand going forward or whether he is being looked at as a potential mover to the main roster.
