AEW President Tony Khan reportedly stopped Bryan Danielson from appearing on an independent wrestling show that he was looking at performing on.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Khan had stopped Danielson from appearing on a show due to AEW not yet appearing in that market.
“He [Danielson] can work indies like Jon Moxley has on his deal” Dave Meltzer revealed in the newsletter. “But in one case that we know of, there was an indie promotion he was interested in.
“[The show was] in a market AEW is going but hasn’t been and Tony Khan did ask him not to work in that market on an indie show until after the AEW show in that market because they wanted his first date in the market since WWE.”
This makes absolute sense for Tony Khan to do as he needs to focus on his own promotion and Bryan Danielson is one of the bigger stars on the AEW roster.
