A report recently noted that AEW Andrade El Idolo is actively trying to get fired from the promotion following a string of incidents involving the star.

Andrade El Idolo was sent home after altercation

El Idolo was sent home from Wednesday’s (October 5) AEW Dynamite taping after an alleged backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara.

The incident occurred after a public Twitter spat between the two, in which harsh words were exchanged and Guevara accused El Idolo of wanting to ‘go back to WWE.’

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio[via WrestleTalk]:

‘Andrade’s trying to get fired, we all know that. When guys want to leave, some will go to great extremes to do that. It’s happened with WWE, I’ve talked to people in WWE who’ve tried to get fired with some of the craziest things in the world, and I’ve told them it’s not gonna work.

‘There were some crazy stories of people trying to get fired. Getting in a fight was never one of them, but there’s things much crazier than that from people who wanted to leave and get out and were not going to be allowed to do that because the company wasn’t going to release them.

‘So now the situation is on the other front, where there’s a few people, and it’s not that many, it’s like three, that wanna leave (AEW), and there’s different stories and whatever, and Andrade’s one of them.

‘Tuesday night they were talked to, both of them, and they were told no fighting. And Andrade was told that, ’˜If this is your idea, you’re not gonna get fired if you fight, but you will be sent home’. And Andrade said, ’˜Don’t worry, nothing’s gonna happen, there’s gonna be no fight’, and this was Tuesday night. Sammy was the same thing, ’˜Nothing’s gonna happen’. They had security there, everybody was warned ahead of time.’

The Wrestling Observer and Fightful Select have released an update on the backstage incident.

Both of the outlets stated that Andrade was the aggressor in the situation, and threw punches at Guevara, who did not throw any in return. This is why Andrade was the one who was sent home and Guevara remained to compete in the main event, where he picked up a victory for the JAS over Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia.

Andrade and Guevara were both instructed to not make things worse, which they agreed to. Several talents believed that the situation would be squashed instead of it turning into a fight.

The report does note that it seemed that Guevara did shove Andrade prior to the punches. News of their fight had reached the audience in Washington as Guevara was heavily booed for the main event. A number of fans also started chanting ‘Idolo’ after Dynamite went off the air.
