The recent string of injuries has created many problems for AEW. A number of their top stars have been put on shelf over the last few weeks, forcing Tony Khan to rework some of the top matches they were originally building for the show. The same injuries, however, have also created new opportunities for others.
One such opportunity that has presented itself is the result of the injury of Bryan Danielson. The former WWE star was originally supposed to face Zack Sabre Jr. at the show. AEW has announced that a mystery opponent will face the NJPW star instead and it has got people guessing who it could be.
Now former NXT champion Johnny Gargano has made an announcement that has people believing that he will be replacing Bryan on the show. The former NXT star revealed on Twitter that he will actually be in Chicago for an autograph signing on the morning of the upcoming show:
“I promise you this is ridiculously coincidental and has been booked for months. I’ll only be in Chicago for like 8 hours! I also realize in saying this that only like 5% of you are going to believe I’m actually telling the truth.”
Johnny Gargano has kept his distance from the wrestling world ever since he left WWE in December last year. He took the time off to be with his wife Candice LeRae during the birth of their son.
