AEW veteran star Sting recently dropped a huge retirement tease following his match at the Great Muta Final ’˜Bye Bye’ event. At the January 22 show, ‘The Icon’ and Darby Allin teamed with the Great Muta to defeat the team of AKIRA & Hakushi & Naomichi Marufuji.

Sting bids adieu to Japan

This show marked one of the final stops on Keiji Muto’s retirement tour, with this bout being Muto’s last as the Great Muta.

In the post-match interview, the WCW legend revealed that the bout may have also marked the end of an era for him too.

The wrestling veteran indicated that he might have just wrestled for the last time in Japan, noting:

Yeah, maybe ’˜bye bye’ for Sting in Japan. I don’t know, we’ll see.’

Sting last wrestled for AEW at the November 2022 Full Gear pay-per-view, teaming with Darby Allin to defeat Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett. Muto will wrestle his final match at the Keiji Muto Grand Final: Pro-Wrestling ’˜Last’ Love event on February 23.
