Former UFC Champ Champ Daniel Cormier recently commented on his (former?) rival Jon Jones heading to the UFC’s Heavyweight division. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones will likely be facing the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou later this month, with the UFC hoping that Jones will become one of the premiere athletes once again in the higher weight class.
‘When you get knocked out like that, it never leaves the memory,’ Cormier stated on DC & Helwani. ‘You don’t forget that. I will never forget the night that I got knocked out by [Jon] Jones. You constantly are reminded of that when you step back in there. The good memories last, but the bad memories haunt you.’
Daniel Cormier on Jon Jones
Despite the trauma of the July 29, 2017 knockout, Cormier believes that Jones will not be knocking anyone out at 206 pounds and up.
‘Jon Jones will not knock out anybody [at heavyweight],’ Cormier continued. ‘He doesn’t hit hard enough. If he couldn’t knock these dudes out at 205, he’s not knocking these heavyweights out.’
