UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will be challenging for the Light Heavyweight title at UFC 259. The Middleweight Champ goes up against Jan Blachowicz to try and become the next Champ Champ in the company’s history.

There had been speculation before the event that Israel Adesanya would not return to the Middleweight division if he were successful this weekend. ‘I’ll definitely go back down to 185,’ Adesanya recently told MMA Junkie. ‘I have something else in my head that might interest (me after). But definitely going back down to 185 is my goal. I want to keep my division moving.’

What that “something else” could be? A Heavyweight fight against Jon Jones.

Israel Adesanya on Jon Jones Megafight

Speaking recently to Ariel Helwani, Israel Adesanya stated that he is still interested in a fight against Jon ‘Bones’ Jones. “Unfortunately, it may not be in summer or July, but there is still December. There is still December 2021.” Adesanya did also mention that the fight will need to be in front of a crowd. “All I know is that fight needs a crowd. I can’t do that in an empty arena.”

UFC President Dana White spoke about his want for an Adesanya vs Jones fight back in December. “That’s the fight I would love to see,” White about Jones vs. Adesanya back in December 2020. “Somebody asked me yesterday if you could make one fight in 2021 – that’s the fight that I picked.”
