After a tumultuous few days surrounding the UFC 264 main event, Lightweight division contender Michael Chandler has put his name in the spotlight to face ‘The Notorious One’ Conor McGregor.
McGregor recently said that the fight with Dustin Poirier was ‘off.’
This was due to Poirier making claims that Conor and his team had not paid the $500,000 charitable donation to Poirier’s charity; The Good Fight Foundation.
Conor McGregor himself said that he apparently ‘wanted to see where the money was going to be used;’ before he made the monetary commitment.
Michael Chandler on Conor McGregor
With this all up in the air, Michael Chandler said that he would fight McGregor in July; that is if he was able to beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 262 for the Lightweight Championship.
“May 15 and July 10…book it! #backtoback” is all that ‘Iron’ Mike Chandler had to post to Twitter to indicate that he wants to fight in close succession.
Although it is likely that Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier will go ahead, Michael Chandler and a Lightweight Championship fight would be a hell of a replacement fight if needed.
