It has been confirmed by UFC President Dana White that the upcoming UFC 261 event will be headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal 2. The show will be taking place on April 24 in Jacksonville, Florida in front of a capacity crowd. This will be the first UFC event in 13 months that will be taking place in front of a full crowd.
As well as the massive Welterweight contest, UFC 261 will also see two other title fights. Women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko takes on Jessica Andrade and strawweight champion Zhang Weili faces Rose Namajunas.
UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the return of crowds to UFC events. With the COVID-19 pandemic still not fully cleared, it is interesting that the company has opted to run a full capacity show, especially with the state of Florida allowing it. Both WWE and AEW currently host their shows in Florida, however WWE has no fans in attendance and AEW has a limited capacity.
Dana White spoke about the event on a recent video press release. “You know I am bringing an incredible card. This is a stacked card in front of 15,000 fans. Ladies and gentlemen, we are back. Thank you Jacksonville, I love you guys and we will see you soon.”
